Okay folks. My mom and I are traveling to Italy! We are excited to be finally seated at our gate after a morning that was a little too fraught with excitement. I met mom and the dear daughter Jenny at mom's house this morning. Jenny was our ride to the airport. I had a short to do list including making a copy of my passport and credit card on mom's little copier (you know...safety...traveling with the mom) and hooking up the wireless keyboard Jenny was lending me so that I can keep a blog of our travels. It was discovered that we didn't have the right cord to charge the keyboard, so a trip back to my house (on the way to the airport) was in order.
Good-byes to Meg and Nao, mom's Japanese students, were made, we loaded up, and were on our way.
At my house I found the right cord, picked up a ribbon to identify mom's suitcase and we were on our way. Again.
Airport. Jenny dropped us off. Good-byes were made to Jenny and we made our way to check in.
Mom needed to check two bags and it was discovered that she'd be charged for the second bag. She wasn't expecting this so that was sad. I was reaching for my credit card (just to be neighborly) but low! My credit card was no where to be seen! I had left it on mom's copier. We managed to get through the check-in process, called the sainted Jenny, who headed back to mom's to retrieve the card.
While we waited for Jenny, we changed our real money into play money and played that solitaire game where you have four cards that have to match suits or numbers. My score was 15. Mom's was 5. No skill required, mind you. But mom wins at everything so that may be a theme of the trip.
Darling Jenny returned with the damn credit card (special bottle of wine for you, dear one!) and we were on our way. Again.
Security was fine. Mom got an extra step because of chapstick, but all was fine.
We are now at our gate ready to depart. Breakfast has been eaten. The keyboard is being charged. Mom's reading a mystery. Button Cat's looking cute.
I don't know how much I'll be updating this, but I'm hoping for fairly frequent opportunities.
